Transforming Community Action
A four part training series designed in conjunction with the Center for Community Empowerment, Department of Community and Economic Development. The series focuses on providing the tools and concepts so that good Community Action Agencies (CAA) can transform themselves into great CAA’s. By exploring the principles and functions that guide Community Action, attendees to the series will obtain a deeper understanding of the “whole picture,” moving to greater levels of effectiveness in supporting individuals, families and communities.



Session One: Insuring Success & Recognition for your CAA
A 21st Century Introduction to Results Management Theory and Concepts



Insuring Success & Recognition for your CAA is the first training in a four part series. The first training provides an understanding of basic principles that must be grasped and implemented to guide goal and activity development and be accountable to administrators, boards, communities and funders. These principles, implemented properly, clarify the purpose of Community Action services and advocacy activities in the communities.






Session Two: Matching Community Action Strategies with Community Needs & Resources

The training series continues with Matching Community Action Strategies with Community Needs & Resources. This session will provide information on identifying the elements of a quality community assessment, establishing an assessment plan, identifying the needs and resources at the community level, creating a profile of your community and determining how your efforts fit into a comprehensive community strategy.

Session Four: Accountability, Sharing your results

Session 4, will provide participants with an understanding of the importance of “Accountability,” which is more than reporting to funding sources.  Information  will help participants consider how to use needs assessment data and agency service data to improve performance, make a “Case for Change,” and develop a Community Report Card” that will inform their community about their results. Make sure to complete the series by attending session 4.
