Low-income individuals often fall into a category of the unbanked or underbanked. This leads many to utilize the services of check cashing companies. Through a unique banking partnership, Consumer Credit Counseling Services developed a pre-paid debit card which allows user to keep more of their own money and avoid the high fees of check cashing and money orders. Ms. Loperbey will review and outline the process for deciding how to use the VISA debit card and relate how the benefits were weighed for long term success.
