Do you have direct or indirect responsibility for technology related tasks and programs within your agency? Join this open discussion for an exchange of ideas and discussion on solutions to the technological challenges you may be experiencing.

WF25: Pre K, Head Start and Community Action (B&L)
Nancy Elmore, Regional Head Start Program Manager & Blair Hyatt, Pennsylvania Head Start Association
Head Start and the new PA Pre K Counts programs can help create the foundation for families reaching self-sufficiency. Many Community Action Agencies have been strong Head Start grantees for decades. This workshop will provide updates on the opportunities and challenges in offering Head Start and PA Pre K Counts for Community Action Agencies.  Participate in an open and lively discussion.

WF26: Building the skills of employees (F&HR and E&T)

Nichole Hewitt, Indiana University of Pennsylvania
This session will focus on how front line workers can learn and USE new skills that will improve their capacity to achieve results.  It will use some “lessons learned” in how the application of classroom instruction of Family Development Credential (FDC) is transferred to the workplace via the Portfolio Development experience.  It will also explore how supervisors can help establish a positive learning environment that continues to support the transfer of learning for more successful communication and interaction.

WF27: Revealing the political landscape (PP)
Peter DeCoursey, Capitol Wire
Peter DeCoursey has covered Pennsylvania politics as a news reporter for many years. In his tenure as a political writer and columnist for the Harrisburg Patriot News, and in his current position with the political news web site Capitol Wire, Mr. DeCoursey provides analysis of the activities and legislation that shape the Commonwealth. He is known for his insider information and access to the lawmakers in Harrisburg. Mr. DeCoursey will share his experiences covering Pennsylvania politics, expected Legislative activity for the coming year and the Governor’s major initiatives.
