Community Action Commission Director Publishes Editorial on Housing Crisis
Community Action Commission's Executive Director Linda Figueroa published an editorial in the Sunday September 21, edition of the Harrisburg Patriot-News praising Pennsylvania’s law makers for taking quick action to attempt to quell the housing crisis.
Ms. Figueroa’s editorial praises the Foreclosure Relief and Affordable Housing Initiative legislative package introduced by State Representative Pete Daley (D-Washington/Fayette) and backed by State Senators John Pippy (R-Allegheny), James Rhodes (R-Schuylkill).
The package would create long-term investment in affordable homes for Pennsylvania’s families while helping current home owners make repairs to their existing homes.
The complete Patriot-News editorial can be found at this link.
Also included in the legislative package is the Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Act (PHARE) that would create a state housing trust fund to help low-income families, senior homeowners and disabled residents with various housing needs.
The legislation has moved out of committee and is due for a full House vote.
Ms. Figueroa is hoping other legislators will place their support behind this proactive legislation.
Community Action Commission, a member of the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania, is committed to helping low-income residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties achieve Family Economic Success.
